Today's my first official day on this project. I've started with The Japandroid's "Post Nothing" because most of my music is guitar driven and noisy. There seems to be a lack of that kind of music in the lists I've seen. But I'm hopeful I'll root it out eventually.
Meanwhile I'm still looking for stuff to check out. Here's The Hypemachine's Top 50 Artists of 2009.
So far my list for the week sounds like this:
With Real Estate, Yo La Tengo, and that Yeah Yeah Yeahs album I didn't like the first time.
Everyone loves that Phoenix album. Lily Allen? Neko Case? Raekwon? Fever Ray (the sister from the Knife)? There were an absolute ton of semi-interchangeable Not Not Fun garage/psychedelic albums, of which Eternal Tapestry's "The Invisible Landscape" was probably my favorite.

Thanks! Let me know if you come across anything else. I just found out Ida Maria was a 2009 album, too.

I hadn't picked up the Japandroids album but “Young Hearts Spark Fire” is pretty great. There wasn't a lot of plain guitar rock in my 2009 either (there're the more heavily produced Dead Weather and Silversun Pickups albums, I guess).

I can recommend Built to Spill's "There Is No Enemy"--definitely guitar-driven, and occasionally noisy (though not as much as their early stuff.)

Yeah, Mark, this project has done one thing which is stopped me from going to my usual Pavement/Weezer/Bad Brains which is great. I'm finding stuff like Japandroids I never would have bothered looking into.
Excited to pick up BtS tomorrow, thanks, Chris. I really need to find another list to comb.

It's a very interesting point of view and items that I would like to know more as the interpersonal attitude is something that is not given much information.
